To Our Tijeras Family & Friends
What a journey this has been…
When the shutdown was announced we went into shock mode, everyone thought, “what next? and how long would this last?
Here we are one year and four months later, and we have had the governor lift restrictions as of July 1st, 2021, allowing businesses to use their own discretion per their industry to set their safety procedures for their company.

Tijeras is a small salon and has experienced economic hardship since the pandemic started. We were forced to close over a period of three and a half months, and we were forced to work under the restrictions of a 25% capacity limitation. Small businesses in New Mexico have closed or are currently in a stressful position of keeping their doors open. We have lost many of our beloved salons in New Mexico due to COVID19 and the ability to hire and maintain their overhead.
We are a signature establishment for over 40 years and have never experienced any type of disaster like this before. To keep our staff, family and clients safe and healthy, we established a $10 sanitation fee per appointment which overall, enabled us to keep our doors open and to service our amazing clientele.
According to USA Today news on June 19, 2021, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky has stated the “highly-contagious Delta variant is likely to become dominant in US by the fall”. Therefore, the following COVID19 guidelines listed for Tijeras will be held in place until further notice. *Read Below
